Full and Part-time Program Mission Statement They say it takes a village to raise a child but we believe it takes a Kabana. Our all-inclusive program strives to be a home away from home that constantly works to install healthy habits and provide a comprehensive learning environment. Our program operates according to the following 5 key components: Whole child education – This education style focuses on all aspects of age appropriate development-physical, emotional, social, creative, and cognitive/intellectual. Some examples of the skills learned through whole child education are to put on and zip up a jacket, maintain a strong self-esteem, to settle their own conflicts over toys, to play a rhythm instruments, and to understand numbers represent objects. These skills will be learned through a balance of teacher directed learning, child directed learning, learning through play, and individual, mixed age group and group activities. The children will be encouraged to be present in their learning and trained to be active life long learners. Health - We strive to give our children every advantage in life- don’t we? But when it comes to health we’re failing as a nation. Kidz Kabana adopts a health plan based on the teachings of Dr. Sears that installs life long healthy habits and sets the groundwork for healthy adults. Our meal plan is based on Dr. Sears’ red light, yellow light, green light book. It basically teaches children what foods are anytime, sometimes, and very seldom foods. Rather than having set snack times everyday, each classroom will have a “grazing” cart filled with green light foods that the children can snack on as they feel hungry. This promotes one of Dr. Sears’ 10 healthy habits “Raise a Grazer.” Kidz Kabana also offers an optional Dr. Sears recommended supplement program called Juice Plus. JP is a wonderful way to add 17 fresh, raw fruits and vegetables to a child’s diet. Personal growth - This is separate from our education component because of its importance and its distinct presence in our program. Through this component your child builds her intrapersonal intelligence- person’s understanding of herself. Your child will learn how to react to things, which things to avoid, and which things to embrace. Your child will be encouraged to think and talk about what he is thankful for and what he values. Strong intrapersonal skills give your child the ability to know who she is, know what she can do and what she wants to do, and when to ask for help. People who have a good understanding of themselves tend to be confident and successful. Convenience - Today a minority of families are what we view as traditional. Kidz Kabana recognizes and provides for this. We offer full time, part time and hourly care days, nights, and weekends. Rather than asking families to fit into a set schedule, families tell us what they need and Kidz Kabana fulfills that need. For example, your child is enrolled daily until 7pm and you have to stay at work later than usual. Just give us a call and we can care for your child in our hourly program until you are able to pick her up. Giving family time back to families - Where does all the time go? Work all day,race to pick up the kids before their center closes, run through a drive through, take daughter to dance and son to soccer just to get home in time for bed. Sound familiar? Kidz Kabana works together with Steppin’ Out dance studio, Extreme Gymnastics, Academy of Fighting Arts, and music institutions to ensure your child participates in extra curricular activities before they go home. Not only do we get extra curricula done, Kidz Kabana also offers a program called Dinner to Go. Parents have the opportunity to order a dinner that adheres to our health program that is ready for them to take home upon pick up of their child. Kidz Kabana’s goal: give family time back to families. To register in Kidz Kabana’s full or part-time program, parents should visit our facility with their child to meet with the director to discuss enrollment. At this time the family will receive a tour as well as an overview of our policies and procedures.
